How to Receive the eNews if you use SPAM filters
SPAM has been on the rise in recent months. At Kononia House, over 85% of the e-mail going through our e-mail server is SPAM. Filters have reduced the amount of SPAM reaching individuals, but the volume of junk e-mail on the Internet continues to rise and now accounts for about 65% of all e-mail traffic. This plague affects all computer users and service providers, stealing computing resources, stealing the time of system administrators, and ultimately stealing from the consumer who ends up paying for it all.
K-House takes several steps to ensure we are not contributing to the SPAM problem:
1. Our e-mail lists are always double-opt-in, so we make sure that no one can sign you up without your express approval. 2. We secure our e-mail servers with technology to make sure your email address cannot be accessed by any outsiders. 3. Our e-mail servers are designed to prevent unauthorized access to spammers who use open relays.
SPAM prevention services have cropped up to help people who are overwhelmed with irritating junk mail, automatically filtering out the SPAM. Unfortunately, these services can also cause problems with the delivery of legitimate email, such as the K-House eNews. These problems range from entirely blocking the eNews email to preventing portions of the eNews from displaying properly.
SPAM Filter Issues: Some eNews subscribers are using services such as SpamArrest.com to curtail the junk mail. Spam Arrest sends an e-mail to us when an eNews is sent to a Spam Arrest subscriber, asking us to click a link and type in a special code in order for the eNews to be delivered. If you are using this or a similar type of service, we will not be able to respond to such requests. You can imagine that with over 47,000 subscribers, there is no way for us to monitor automatic replies from our subscribers' e-mail systems.
To keep receiving the eNews, please find out how your specific SPAM filtering solution works and add webmaster@khouse.org to the list of addresses that are allowed to send e-mail directly. You may also need to ask your systems administrator to "whitelist" the @khouse.org domain name for all e-mails.
Microsoft Outlook 2003 Issues: Subscribers who use the latest Microsoft Office 2003 product with Outlook 2003 may find that the eNews does not display properly without changing some settings. Here are the steps to take if you are not seeing the images:
1. Select the eNews in your Inbox. 2. In the eNews email, click on the gray bar that says, "Click here to download pictures..." 3. Click on the "Add Sender to Safe Senders List" option.
AOL 9.0 Issues: Images and links will show up and work if you click "Add Address" and select "Save" when the dialog box pops up. Once this is done, the newsletter will be available to you each week with workable links and graphics without clicking "Enable links and images."
We hope this information enables more of you to receive the eNews every week without problem. God's blessings on all your studies.
