Session 15

Hebrews 13

Study Questions:
(For the Diligent Student)

1)    List the characteristics of:
     a)    Good teachers
     b)    False teachers

2)    Hebrew 13:8:  “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day,
and for ever.” Is this really true?  Explain your answer.

3)    In what ways can a Believer participate in Yom Kippur?
       Explain your answer.

4)    What does the allusion to Timothy in this epistle indicate?

5)    Summarize the major reasons that indicate that this epistle was authored by Paul. What evidence(s) suggest otherwise?

6)    Assuming Pauline authorship, why would Paul not sign his epistle?

7)    What can we deduce from the closing salutation in the last verse?

Discussion Questions:

(“Where two people agree, one is redundant")

1. What were the most useful insights from this epistle? How does it impact us today?

Candidate Research Projects:
(For the truly dedicated)

1. Investigate the internal evidences for the Pauline authorship of the Epistle to the Hebrews.  (Or conversely.)

2. Investigate the Roman military (and political) maneuvers from 64 - 70 AD. Identify the origins of the cohorts involved (in light of Dan 9:26).

Preparation for the Next Session:

Review (as an addendum to this study):  Luke 21, which is often confused with the Olivet Discourse: Matthew 24 (& Mark13). Read both accounts and identify the differences…Why are these differences significant? How are they helpful today?
